Ospedaletti
The palm-lined promenade, little coves and rocks for swimming. For decades the town's main avenue was the Ospedaletti circuit, host to car and motorcycle Grands Prix.
An apartment 30 metres from the water, on the third floor with a lift and a south-facing terrace. From inside you see and hear only the sea.
Like being on a boat, with the comfort of a home: the sea fills every window, from sunrise to sunset.
This holiday rental is on the seafront of Ospedaletti, on the Italian Riviera in the province of Imperia, on the third floor of a building with a lift. The windows and the terrace face south, so the sun comes in all day and the view opens across 180 degrees, from the coast at Bordighera to Capo Nero towards Sanremo.
Right below the building there's a small beach with a kiosk for a salad, a sandwich or an aperitivo. About 500 metres away the cycle path begins, running along the old railway line, flat and always overlooking the sea.
Previous guests even found oil, vinegar, salt and spices in the kitchen. Bed linen and towels are included.
Ospedaletti is a quiet town on the Riviera dei Fiori, with a mild climate all year round. The centre, with shops, restaurants and beaches, is a walk along the sea; the Capo Nero bus stop is a few minutes away, and Sanremo is a short ride.
From the western Italian Riviera to the Côte d'Azur: villages, gardens and seaside towns, all within an hour's drive. Distances are approximate.
The palm-lined promenade, little coves and rocks for swimming. For decades the town's main avenue was the Ospedaletti circuit, host to car and motorcycle Grands Prix.
Dozens of kilometres along the old railway line, flat and right above the sea, all the way to Andora. There are bike hire points along the route.
La Pigna, the hillside old town; the Casino, the Ariston Theatre, Villa Nobel and the covered market. Reachable by bus from the Capo Nero stop.
The old upper town, the Lungomare Argentina promenade and the Pallanca Exotic Garden, with thousands of succulents overlooking the sea.
The village abandoned after the 1887 earthquake and later reborn as an artists' colony, with studios and stone alleys.
The medieval bridge painted by Monet, the Doria castle and the Rossese wine cellars, inland in the Nervia valley.
The La Mortola botanical garden, terraced down to the sea, right by the border. Nearby are the prehistoric Balzi Rossi caves.
The Côte d'Azur half an hour away: Menton's old town, the Oceanographic Museum and the Rock of Monaco.
